Our Services

Since 1988, per our Mission Statement, Beta Foster Care has successfully operated as a Treatment Foster Family Agency in Orange County. Below are listed the enriched foster care services provided by Beta Foster Care.

• Pre-Approval Training:

  Before becoming an approved Resource Family, per the BETA Model, the Executive Director provides small group training 1 (one) to 2 (two) applicant families at a time. This training is free of charge to the applicants. The pre-approval training curriculum contains state required topics. A Trauma Informed Care training approach is utilized and the foster care system is reviewed. The Beta Foster Care training is not a one size fits all, but instead our training is flexible to address the unique needs of each applicant Resource Family.

• Policy Review:

  This meeting finalizes the Resource Family approval process. The Executive Director meets with each applicant family to review the policies. During this meeting the family is able to finalize their foster care placement preferences (such as boys and/or girls and ages of children).

• SAFE Home Study:

  Beta Foster Care approves most Resource Family applicants within 90 days. The SAFE Home Study is one of five steps of Resource Family Approval. The Home Study is in two parts. One section is a narrative reviewing the Resource Family’s background, goals for foster care, and interest in potentially adopting and accepting permanent care of foster children. Beta Foster Care uses the SAFE Home Study Template for this assessment. And the second part of the home study is the home safety approval using the required state checklist form.

• Annual Resource Family Training:

  Once approved all Resource Families receive 8 hours of annual training. Per the BETA Model, the Beta Foster Care staff refer Resource Families to online (free of charge) training resources and provide in-home tutorials to ensure a professional training experience.

• Placement Matching:

  Beta Foster Care is committed to implementing the Quality Parenting Initiative through placement matching services with our Resource Families. Once Beta Foster Care receives a placement referral we evaluate the needs of the youth. Then we match that child with the Resource Family to maximize the success of the placement. This matching process includes informing the Resource Family about the foster child’s case history, current case plan, and placement needs. Beta Foster Care staff shall also facilitate pre-placement visits between the foster youth or non-minor dependant and the Resource Family.

• Case Management Services:

  Upon placing a foster child or Non-Minor Dependent with a Resource Family a Beta Foster Care-Social Worker shall be assigned to provide case management services. The Beta Foster Care-Social Worker shall collaborate with the County Placement Child Welfare Agency to ensure all health care, educational, dental, mental health and other professional outside services are provided to the foster child and/or Non-Minor Dependent. The Beta Foster Care-Social Worker shall provide a Needs & Services Plan to address all of the foster child or Non-Minor Dependent placement needs with the Resource Family. And provide a quarterly report, based on this plan, to the County Placement Child Welfare Agency. The Beta Foster Care-Social Worker shall attend all Child and Family Team Meetings and provide advocacy for the placed foster youth.

• Resource Family Home Visits:

  Upon placement of a foster child and/or Non-Minor Dependent the assigned Beta Foster-Social Worker will meet weekly in the Resource Family Home with the Resource Family and the placed youth. After 30 days of placement the schedule of meetings will be change to every other week.

• Resource Parent Coaching:

  Upon placement of a foster child and/or Non-Minor Dependent the assigned Beta Foster-Social Worker shall also provide the Resource Family with parent coaching. The Beta Foster Care-Social Worker shall provide practical Trauma Informed Care parenting techniques, child care strategies, and problem solving services.

• After-Hours Support:

  The assigned Beta Foster Care-Social Worker may be reached by the Resource Family at any time after-hours for emergency services.

• Respite Care:

  Respite care is provided to give the Resource Family a rest as needed for up to 72 hours.

• Beta Voices:

  Beta Voices is a monthly Resource Family peer support group meeting. This is an informal monthly meeting of Resource Families facilitated by Beta Foster Care staff. Prospective Resource Families are welcome to join these meetings. These are meetings for Resource Families to share foster care experiences and cultivate a network of local support.
