Resource Family Requirements Certification Summary
Resource Family Definition: Resource Families include individuals, couples, and families who want to provide care to a child who is under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court. Since 2017, Resource Family has been the title for a foster family.
Resource Family Approval Timeline: Qualified Resource Family applicants can be approved within 90 days. For more information please see the Steps for Resource Family Approval
The basic requirements for Resource Family approval certification with Beta Foster Care are listed below.
- All adults living in the home must pass a background check.
- Complete Pre-Approval Training
- Complete the SAFE Home Study
- Become First Aid and CPR certified
- Have a physical examination
- Provide proof of income
- Have a valid California Driver License, auto insurance, and a vehicle that has been certified by a mechanic to be in good working order.
- Have a home/apartment/condominium that has passed a safety review and has enough bedroom space for foster children.
